This spell is offensive.

Mana scald is one of the spells deviced against spell users. It boils the
magic inside its victim so that if the victim tries to cast any spell or
channel magical energies the mana inside him will flare up and burn from
within the caster. As many of the spell users are quite frail this can
rapidly lead to their death unless they stop their casting quickly. It may
not be directly cast like normal spells and has to be struck directly on
the victim as a part of priest's spellblade maneuver or through lance of
the goddess.
