While most of the dhamphirs are not harmed by the light many of them still
prefer to move under cover of darkness as their knowledge of dark arts and
realm of shadows allows them to utilize them to their own benefit. Mantle
of darkness wraps the caster into a pitch black darkness and enhances the
caster's own ability to see in even in the most darkest places. While not
very effective spell on its own the mantle of darkness becomes an efficient
defensive tool when combined with knowledge of shadowleap. Those who have
mastered both of these dark arts are able to vanish into shadows just as
they are about to be hit by their opponents and quickly re-emerge from the
shadows unharmed.

Dhamphirs who have great experience of this kind of
battle style are able to exploit their sudden disappearance and
reappearance to attack their foes before they manage to figure out what
just happened. Also the fact that it is basically impossible to predict
where the dhamphir will re-appear in a shadowclad environment makes this
combat method extremely effective.
